Product Materials and Care

How we describe materials, finishes and care on product pages — and what to expect when records are still being verified.

Harbor Home Supply lists materials, finish and care details on each product page where verified. This page explains how to read those fields. We do not make broad claims about solid wood, natural stone, genuine leather or similar unless explicitly stated and verified on a specific product record.

Verification status

Product records move through verification before live purchase is enabled. When a field is not yet confirmed, the page displays “Verification required” or a similar pending label. Treat unverified fields as incomplete — not as final specifications.

  • Materials: Composition and construction details as supplied by the product record.
  • Finish: Surface treatment and colorway labels where listed.
  • Care: Cleaning and maintenance guidance where verified.

Finish and color variation

Finishes and colorways may vary between production runs. Dye lots, glazing, hand-applied treatments and photographic lighting can all affect how a piece appears in person compared to images on this site. Review finish names and colorway swatches on the product page, and expect reasonable variation within a stated finish family.

Natural-look disclaimer

Some products are described with natural-look, wood-tone, stone-look or similar language. Unless a product record explicitly states a specific natural material and that field is verified, assume finishes are manufactured to resemble natural materials — not necessarily cut from a single natural source. Woven, ceramic, glass, metal and textile categories each follow their own description conventions on individual product pages.

Care field types

Care instructions on product pages may include, where verified:

  • General cleaning (dry dusting, damp cloth, mild soap)
  • What to avoid (abrasives, harsh chemicals, prolonged moisture)
  • Textile care (spot cleaning, professional cleaning guidance)
  • Glass and mirror care (non-abrasive cleaners)
  • Electrical product care (see also our Lighting Safety page)

If care instructions show “Verification required,” do not rely on general category assumptions — contact us before purchase.

Label priority

When information appears in more than one place, use this order:

  1. Product page fields (materials, finish, care, warnings) — highest priority for that specific item.
  2. Packaging or included product labels — follow manufacturer labels received with your order when they differ from preliminary web copy.
  3. General category guidance on this site — supplementary only; does not override verified product-page fields.

What we do not claim

  • We do not state “solid wood,” “natural stone,” “genuine leather,” or similar unless verified on that product.
  • We do not guarantee allergen-free, food-safe or outdoor-weatherproof properties unless explicitly listed and verified.
  • Material library swatches on the site illustrate finish families — not exact matches for every SKU.
